Our new EP, Innocence, will be released on Friday 15th December.
During our 2016 tour we stopped off at studios in Newcastle and London to record several hours of improvised music. The most promising lumps of sound from those sessions were excavated at the start of 2017 and Innocence is the first fruit to be assembled from the wreckage.
Four new songs for you: Innocence, Hot Strings of Love, Like A Dog and These Animal’s Eyes.
Innocence is intended as the first of two related EPs. A virtual ‘Side A’ of an album, with ‘Side B’ – a sister-EP – to follow in 2018. The cover artwork is by Harumi Foster.
Also due for release soon (on the 21st December as usual) will be this year’s Winter Solsticesong. For those of you who dont’t know – for the past seven years we have issued a new, longform piece of music every 21st of December. Every year presents a new creative challenge for us to bend and manipulate our sonic muscles for you in new and innapropriatly physical ways.
…Which is where the new one will live after it has hatched from its moist egg.
One more thing… There’s a couple of new(ish) shirts available from our merch store. The Lucky Beast shirt features Andrea Voisey’s amazing cover art from last year’s album and can be found here. And the Sonny Sharrock Was Right shirt can be found here, with all the proceeds going to the Youth Music charity.
We are pregnant with twins. We shall very soon be releasing an EP called ‘Innocence’ with another, as yet untitled EP to follow soon after. If you would like to assist the birth, please consider subscribing to us on Bandcamp.
You’ll be helping to fund the release of these and future sonic artifacts and in return you’ll get our entire discography, every new thing we make as it’s released, LOTS of exclusive music unreleased elsewhere and generous discounts on merch.
The final single from Lucky Beast has just been released. Emission is taken from the album, while the b-side (if such a thing exists in the digital world) is a live version of the song Lucky Beast recorded at the album launch show last March.
We don’t really go in the for usual crowdfunding thing – promising a big project we may or may not be able to deliver – but like all independent bands we rely on the support of our fans to get things done. Subscribing to us on Bandcamp is a splendid way to help us to make more music.. You’ll get everything we release each year (albums, singles and EPs) as well as subscriber-exclusive albums and singles (last year we released two exclusive albums – one live and one studio recording) which are unavailable elsewhere, generous discounts on shirts and other merch and the satisfying sensation of helping to contribute to the creation of new adventurous music in a sustainable way. We’re currently working on new music for a project that we would dearly like to release this year. Either as an album or a series of EPs. The new songs are taking on a far more ambitious shape than before. The sounds seem to be bending in all directions, simultaneously more melodic and more sonically weird. This is definitely going to be our boldest set of recordings so far. We urge YOU to help us materialise this music in the physical universe by becoming a loyal subscriber.
